Ten New Members Inducted Into Hall Of Fame Friday Night

KENOSHA, Wis. – Friday evening Carthage College inducted ten new members in the Carthage Athletic Hall of Fame. 
 
The newest members included a pair of swimmers in Amanda (Croix) Patzke '11 and Michelle Pelka '11, women's basketball's Diana (Jacklin) Dastice '12, women's volleyball's Michelle Madeja '12 and softball's Alyssa (Schrader) DeCicco '12.  On the men's side, Red Men inductees included football's Tyler Funk '11, men's volleyball's Randy Hansen '12, men's tennis' Brad Livingston '06, baseball's Jim Miller '97 and Glen Schumacher '76 of cross country and track and field.

Amanda (Croix) Patzke '11
2011 graduate Amanda (Croix) Patzke earned the first swimming National Champion in school history, capturing the 2010 50 freestyle championship.  As a 12-time first team All-American, eight-time honorable mention All-American, two-time CCIW Swimmer of the Year (only two in program history) and two-time CCIW Most Valuable Swimmer (Michelle Pelka holds only other two).  Patzke still holds four individual records and is a member of four school relay records. The 24-time CCIW Champion was chosen as a 2011 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection and was honored by her team as a four-time team Most Valuable Swimmer.  To this day, Patzke still holds three individual and two relay Koenitzer Aquatic Center records.
 
Tyler Funk '11
Kicker/punter Tyler Funk, who played for the 2009 and 2010 Red Men after transferring from Illinois State University, was named Associated Press third-team Little All-America, American Football Coaches Association All-America, "D3football.com" first-team All-America, "D3football.com" first-team All-North Region and first-team All-CCIW in 2010 and set Carthage season records with 15 field goals and 72 points.  He converted 15-of-18 field goals that season and tied his own Carthage record with a 52-yard field goal at Concordia (Wis.) on Sept. 18.  In 2009, Funk was named AP second-team Little All-America, "D3football.com" first-team All-North Region and first-team All-CCIW.  He was the NCAA Division III national leader in punting in 2009 at 44.4 yards per kick.
 
Randy Hansen '12
Outside hitter Randy Hansen is the most decorated Red Men in the men's volleyball programs short history.  A four-time all-conference first team selection, Hansen was named the 2009 conference Rookie of the Year, twice named the conference Player of the Year, twice named an All-America selection with first team honors in 2012, and was named the 2012 American Volleyball Coaches Association National Player of the Year as a senior.  Hansen holds a number of single-season and career records at Carthage including matches played, kills, points and attack attempts. His 1,642 career kills are over 600 more than the next best in program history.  In addition to his program records, he ranks in the top-ten in kills per set, points per set, digs, digs per set, service aces and blocks.
 
Diana (Jacklin) Dastice '12
Diana Jacklin, who lettered three times between 2009 and 2012, was named 2012 D3Hoops.com Second Team All-American and Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-America Honorable Mention.  She was named to the 2012 All-Central Region teams for both "D3Hoops.com" and the WBCA.  Diana earned All-CCIW First Team honors in 2010 and 2012, and second team accolades in 2011.  Jacklin was named CCIW Jack Swartz All-Academic in 2012, one of eight Lady Reds' basketball players to earn the honor.  In her three seasons she cemented her place in the record books at 11th in career points, ninth in field goals made, second in field goal percentage, 10th in free throw attempts and second in blocks.  To this day she still holds CCIW Tournament game records with 16 total rebounds vs. Wheaton on February 24, 2012, 14 defensive rebounds vs. Wheaton on February 24, 2012 and 13 field goals made vs. Illinois Wesleyan on February 25, 2012.
 
Brad Livingston '06
Brad Livingston was named Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-America in both 2005 and 2006 and named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association "National Player to Watch" in 2005.  He was the CCIW Men's Tennis Player of the Year in 2006, first-team All-CCIW three-straight years from 2004 to 2006, the CCIW Men's Tennis Championship co-MVP in 2005 and the tournament MVP in 2006.  Livingston is Carthage's career leader in singles winning percentage at .874 (76-11) and set the single-season record in 2006 with 29 wins.
 
Michelle Madeja '12
A four-year letter winner, Michelle Madeja is one of the most decorated Lady Reds volleyball players in Carthage history.  She was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association First-Team All-America selection three times, as well as an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region First Team choice on three different occasions.  The two-time CCIW Player of the Year in 2010 and 2011, Madeja was a three-time first-team All-CCIW from 2009 to 2011 and twice named team MVP.  She holds the program record for hitting percentage in a match and ranks second in a season and for a career in kills by a Carthage player.
 
Jim Miller '97
A one-year letter winner, Jim Miller made the most of his lone season with the Red Men, being named to the 1997 American Baseball Coaches Association All-America Second Team and All-CCIW First Team, as well as the Carthage College Mark A. Larsen Outstanding Pitcher.  His 10 wins in 1997 are tied for the most in a single season by a Carthage pitcher and his 81 strikeouts are tied for fourth.   Additionally, Miller ranks tied for eighth in innings pitched in a season with 80 and 11th with a 1.80 earned run average in 1997.  Following Carthage, Miller became an 11th round selection by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 1997 MLB Draft.
 
Michelle Pelka '11
Holds three individual records and is a member of four school relay records; holds two relay Koenitzer Aquatic Center records; six-time first team All-America; nine-time honorable mention All-America; two-time CCIW Most Valuable Swimmer (Amanda Croix holds only other two); 2010 CCIW Most Outstanding Performer (only in program history); 24-time CCIW Champion; 2010 and 2011 Carthage Women's Swimming Scholar Athlete; three-time CCIW/Jack Swartz honoree; 2011 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship honoree.
 
Alyssa (Schrader) DeCicco '12
Alyssa (Schrader) DeCicco was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division III All-American in 2010, where she notched a .402 (45-112) batting average, 11 home runs and 37 runs batted in. She was also a 2010 and 2012 National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division III All-Great Lakes Region selection. Schrader, who started all of Carthage's 159 games from 2009-12, is the Lady Reds career leader in home runs, runs batted in and walks.  Her 14 home runs and 31 walks in 2012 are Carthage single-season records. She also sports the second-longest hitting streak in Lady Reds' history (2012). Schrader was the 2012 CCIW Softball Player of the Year, and a three-time All-CCIW Selection (2009, 2010, and 2012).
 
Glen Schumacher '76
Glen Schumacher was a four-time All-CCIW cross country honoree between 1972 and 1975 with a 13th-place finish at the 1972 CCIW Cross Country Championship, seventh place in 1973, sixth in 1974 and fifth at the 1975 championship,  He also lettered four times in track and field between 1973 and 1976.  Schumacher finished second in both the three-mile and six-mile run at the 1975 CCIW Track and Field Championships and won both events at the 1976 championships.
