The Carthage College women's track and field team (51-14 outdoor record) finished third at the Friday-Saturday, May 3-4 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Millikin University's Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Ill.
North Central College won its eighth league championship with 229.50 points, followed by Illinois Wesleyan second at 170.50, Carthage third at 128, Augustana College (Ill.) fourth at 117, Wheaton College (Ill.) fifth at 76, Millikin sixth at 55, Elmhurst College seventh at 23 and North Park University eighth with 18 points.
Carthage's
Patti Laufenberg (Jr., Waunakee, Wis.) won the 400-meter dash (57.81) and finished third in the 200-meter dash (26.10). Lillian George (Fr., Oconomowoc, Wis./Hartland-Lake Country Lutheran) was second in the high jump (5-4 ¼), as was
Mary Doupis (So., Lindenhurst, Ill./Lake Villa-Lakes Community) in the discus (128-5).
Becca McMullin So., Round Lake, Ill./Fox Lake-Grant Community) took third in both the shot put (40-3 ½) and the discus (126-6). Jasmine Davis (Fr., Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) was third in the hammer throw (156-3) and fourth in the shot put (40-2 ¼).
Kristin LeClair (Jr., Manitowoc, Wis./Lutheran) was third in the long jump (17-5 ½).
Katie Kummerer (Jr., Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale-Central) was fourth in the 10,000-meter run (37:39.17), as was
Samantha Nelson (Jr. Oshkosh, Wis./West) in the 100-meter hurdles (15.53) and
Marissa Weiler (Jr., Morton Grove, Ill./Skokie-Niles North) in the 400-meter dash (59.16). Carthage's 4x400-meter relay team of
Kristin LeClair,
Patti Laufenberg,
Makenzi Morris (So., Crown Point, Ind.) and
Marissa Weiler finished second (3:56.07).
