Results

The Carthage College men's track and field team (52-22 outdoor record) finished third at the Friday-Saturday, May 3-4 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Millikin University's Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Ill. 

North Central College won its 35th league championship and third in a row with 264 points, followed by Augustana College (Ill.) second at 216, Carthage third at 154, Wheaton College (Ill.) fourth at 75, Illinois Wesleyan University fifth at 58, Millikin sixth at 24.50, North Park University seventh at 21.50 and Elmhurst College eighth with five points.
 
Carthage's Derrik Guyette (So., Hortonville, Wis.) was named “field athlete of the meet” with a win in the shot put (52-10), a second-place finish in the hammer throw (170-3) and third in the discus (149-8).  Mark Balmes (Fr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) won the discus (157-0) and finished fourth in the shot put (49-3 ½).  The Red Men also picked up wins from Trevor James (Jr., Maywood, Ill./Chicago-Hope Academy) in the high jump (6-11), Eric Schmidt (Sr., Kewaunee, Wis.) in the hammer throw (177-6) and Quenten Austin (Fr., Vandalia, Ill./Community) in the decathlon (6,230 points). 
 
David Goodalis (Fr., Naperville, Ill./Central) was second in the shot put (50-3 ½) and fourth in the hammer throw (159-4).  Branden Miller (So., Winfield, Ill./Wheaton-North) was second in the javelin (177-1).  Cale Brown (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) was third in both the long jump (21-3 ¼) and the triple jump (43-1 ¾).  Aryan Avant (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) was third in the 200-meter dash (22.39) and fourth in the 400-meter dash (49.07), and Kendric Cornelius (Fr., Palatine, Ill.) took fourth place in the long jump (21-2 ¾).
