Augustana (Ill.) "Twilight Qualifier" Results

The Carthage College women's track and field team competed in two final qualifying meets on Thursday-Friday, May 17-18.  The Lady Reds split squads between the May 17-18 North Central College "Final Qualifier" at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium in Naperville, Ill., and the Augustana College (Ill.) "Twilight Qualifier" on May 18 at Ericson Field in Rock Island, Ill.  No team scores were kept at either event. 

Carthage's Patti Laufenberg (So., Waunakee, Wis.) was second in the 400-meter dash (57.07) at North Central (Ill.) and Mary Doupis (Fr., Lindenhurst, Ill./Lake Villa-Lakes Community) 12th in both the discus (126-6) and the hammer throw (135-4).  At Augustana (Ill.), Cindy Cavanagh (Sr., Naperville, Ill./Aurora-Waubonsie Valley) was seventh in the shot put (42-4 ¾).
 
The participants for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship will be announced by the NCAA on Sunday, May 20.  This year's outdoor championship will be conducted at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College's Burns Stadium in Claremont, Calif., on Thursday-Saturday, May 24-26.
