Final Results
The Carthage College men's golf team (124-19) finished second at the 2012 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Men's Golf Championship. The first two rounds were played on Friday-Saturday, April 27-28 at the Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, Ill. The third and fourth rounds were completed at the Meadowbrook Country Club in Racine, Wis., on May 4-5.
Illinois Wesleyan University won its 14th CCIW title with a team score of 1190 (308-292-301-280) followed by Carthage second at 1202 (305-300-304-295). Millikin University was third at 1215 (306-302-311-296), followed by Wheaton College (Ill.) fourth at 1224 (309-310-304-301), North Park University fifth at 1258 (322-317-311-308), North Central College sixth at 1292 (318-324-326-324), Elmhurst College seventh at 1303 (336-322-328-317) and Augustana College (Ill.) eighth with a 1308 mark (339-316-333-320). Illinois Wesleyan has won the championship four of the last five years and nine of the last 12 years. Millikin won the crown last year and Carthage won it all in 2006 and 2007.
Millikin's Wes Hillen was the medalist with a three-under-par 281 (69-71-69-72), 10 strokes ahead of Carthage's
Brad Hyland (So., Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge, 76.4 season average) in second place with a 291 (76-75-72-68). Stefan Johnson of Illinois Wesleyan was third, 77-71-73-71-292. Carthage's
Donnie Langland (Jr., Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs, team-leading 75.0) finished sixth at 302 (74-74-77-77), just ahead of teammate
Josh Kopka (So., Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs, 77.9) in seventh at 305 (80-76-76-73).
Ben Schroeder (Jr., Mundelein, Ill., 78.4) tied for 13th place at 310 (79-75-79-77).
Riley Bauman (So., Crystal Lake, Ill./Central, 78.4) tied for 23rd place 320 ( 80-81-79-80) with teammate
Anthony Burdi (So., Carol Stream, Ill./Bartlett, 80.6, 76-85-79-80).
