The Carthage College men's golf team (112-18) won the Sunday, April 22 Carroll University (Wis.) Invitational at the at the Broadlands Golf Club in North Prairie, Wis.
The Red Men won the eight-team event with a 299 team score, seven strokes ahead of second-place Carroll (Wis.) at 306. St. Norbert College was third at 309, followed by the Carthage "B" team fourth at 315, the Carroll "B" team fifth at 335, Lawrence University sixth at 348, Ripon College seventh at 350 and Beloit College eighth at 370.
St. Norbert's Brandon Gries took medalist honors with a two-under-par 70. Carthage's
Riley Bauman (So., Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) was second with a 73.
Donnie Langland (Jr., Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) tied for third place with a 74, and
Brad Hyland (So., Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) tied for seventh at 75.
Ben Schroeder (Jr., Mundelein, Ill.) shot a 77 and
Josh Kopka (So., Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) an 81.
For the Carthage "B" team,
Patrick Clavio (Jr., Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) tied for seventh with a 75.
Anthony Burdi (So., Carol Stream, Ill./Bartlett) and
Nate Moore (Jr., Moline, Ill.) shot 78s, Brendan Jones (Sr., St. Charles, Ill./West Chicago) an 84, and
Dan Parks (Sr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) finished with an 85.
The Red Men play host to the Carthage Spring Invitational on Tuesday, April 24 at the Kenosha Country Club, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Benedictine University (Ill.), Carroll University (Wis.), Elmhurst College, the Milwaukee School of Engineering, North Park University, Rock Valley College and Wheaton College (Ill.) round out the eight-team field for the home event.
