The Carthage College women's track and field team (21-15) finished sixth at the Friday, April 20 Augustana College (Ill.) "Meet of Champions" at Ericson Field in Rock Island, Ill. 

Monmouth College won the nine-team event with 180.50 points, followed by North Central College second at 154, Wisconsin-Whitewater third at 122, the host-Vikings fourth at 99, Loras College fifth at 89.50, Carthage sixth at 85, Wisconsin-Platteville seventh at 72.50, Luther College eighth at 67 and St. Ambrose University ninth with 62.50 points.
 
Carthage's Patti Laufenberg (So., Waunakee, Wis.) won the 400-meter dash (58.12).  Cindy Cavanagh (Sr., Naperville, Ill./Aurora-Waubonsie Valley) finished second in the javelin (111-3) and fifth in the shot put (40-9).  Molly Chlum (Sr., Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) was second in the 100-meter dash (12.57).  Samantha Nelson (So., Oshkosh, Wis./West) finished third in the 100-meter hurdles (15.59) and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (71.11).  Katie Kummerer (So., Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale-Central) finished fifth in the 1,500-meter run (4:49.87), as did Sarah Thompson (Sr., Byron, Ill.) in the 100-meter hurdles (15.70).  The Lady Reds also picked up a win in the 4x400-meter relay (3:57.09). 
 
Carthage splits squads on the weekend of April 27-29.  Part of the team will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday-Saturday, April 27-28 for the Drake University Relays, with the rest of the team going to Ripon, Wis., for the Sunday, April 29 Wisconsin Private College Track and Field Championship at Ripon College's Ingalls Field, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
