The Carthage College women's track and field team (18-10) finished third at the Saturday, April 14 Wheaton College (Ill.) "Don Church Twilight Invitational" at McCully Stadium in Wheaton, Ill.
North Central College won the seven-team event with 178.50 points, just three points ahead of second-place Illinois Wesleyan University ay 175.50. Carthage was third at 133.50, followed by the host-Thunder fourth at 93, the University of Chicago fifth at 77, Bethel University (Minn.) sixth at 70 and Wisconsin-Parkside seventh at 34.50.
Carthage's
Kendra Koeppen (Jr., Mason City, Ill./Illini Central) won the hammer throw (136-4 ¼) and finished second in the discus (120-5 ¼).
Mary Doupis (Fr., Lindenhurst, Ill./Lake Villa-Lakes Community) was third in both the discus (117-10 ¼) and the hammer throw (130-6 ¼).
Cindy Cavanagh (Sr., Naperville, Ill./Aurora-Waubonsie Valley) was third in the javelin (112-8 1/4).
Molly Chlum (Sr., Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) was fourth in the 100-meter dash (12.62), as was
Patti Laufenberg (So., Waunakee, Wis.) in the 400-meter dash (58.32),
Katie Kummerer (So., Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale-Central) in the 3,000-meter run (10:47.09) and
Sarah Thompson (Sr., Byron, Ill.) in the 100-meter hurdles (15.55).
The Lady Reds travel to Rock Island, Ill., on Friday-Saturday, April 20-21 for the Augustana College (Ill.) "Meet of Champions" at Ericson Field (3 p.m./10 a.m.).
