The Carthage College women's water polo team (0-0, 0-0 Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III) split a pair of matches on Saturday, March 3 at the Wisconsin-Madison Club Tournament at the Wisconsin Natatorium in Madison, Wis. Carthage defeated the University of Minnesota club team, 12-4, before losing to the Grand Valley State University club by a 12-8 margin.
Jackie Knightly (Fr., Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley),
Megan Gillis (Fr., Jenison, Mich.) and
Ember McCoy (So., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) scored two goals each against the Gophers, with McCoy adding an assist. In the loss to Grand Valley,
Mari Paraskevopoulos (Sr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) scored two goals and assisted on four others.
Carthage travels to Washington, Pa., and to Pittsburgh, Pa., on Saturday-Sunday, March 17-18 for the Collegiate Water Polo Association's “West at Central Tournament.” On Saturday, March 17, Carthage plays Wheaton College (Ill.) at 10:30 a.m. (all times EDT), Grove City College a 3 p.m. and Washington & Jefferson at 8 p.m. at Washington & Jefferson College's Henry Memorial Natatorium in Washington, Pa. On Sunday, March 18, the Lady Reds face Macalester College at 9 a.m. and Chatham University at 3 p.m. at Chatham University Sigo Falk Natatorium in Pittsburgh, Pa.
