Carthage College's
Matt Whiteside (Sr., Sacramento, Calif./Natomas Pacific Pathway Prep, 11-5) was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin "Tennis Player of the Week" on March 28 for the second time this season. Whiteside, who also earned "player of the week" honors on Feb. 29, went 7-1 during the Red Men's spring trip to Orlando, Fla., while playing at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles. He defeated Luther College's Nick Mozena, 5-7, 6-0, 10-2; Grinnell College's Daniel Nellis, 6-1, 6-2; Colorado College's Lionel Zen-Ruffinen, 6-3, 6-1; and Hope College's Davis Vanderveen, 6-0, 6-3. He then teamed with
Nick Boomgarden at No. 2 doubles, defeating Grinnell, 8-6; Colorado College, 9-8 (8-4); and Hope, 8-3.
