The Carthage College men's golf team (66-16) opened the spring portion of its 2011-12 season by winning the Monday, March 26 Aurora University Invitational at the Aurora Country Club in Aurora, Ill. The Red Men won the nine-team event with a 311 team score, nine strokes ahead of second-place Wheaton College (Ill.) at 320. The Carthage "B" team was third at 323, followed by North Park University fourth at 331, Aurora fifth at 332, Lakeland College sixth at 347, Concordia University (Wis.) seventh at 370, Dominican University (Ill.) eighth at 372 and the North Park "B" team ninth with a 378 mark.

Donnie Langland (Jr., Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) took medalist honors with a one-over-par 73.
Brad Hyland (So., Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) and
Josh Kopka (So., Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) finished in a three-way tie for fourth place at 78, and
Riley Bauman (So., Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) tied for 12th place with an 82.
Ben Schroeder (Jr., Mundelein, Ill.) tied for 19th place with an 84.
Dan Parks (Sr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) led the Red Men "B" team in fourth place with a 78.
Tyler Prickette (So., Appleton, Wis./Xavier) shot an 80,
Patrick Clavio (Jr., Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) an 82,
Matt Gates (Jr., Black River Falls, Wis.) an 83, and
Anthony Burdi (So., Carol Stream, Ill./Bartlett) finished with an 86.
Carthage travels to Normal, Ill., on Friday-Saturday, April 6-7 for the Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational at the Ironwood Golf Course (Noon/9 a.m.).
