The Carthage College women's tennis team (8-5, 5-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) lost to Grinnell College (17-0), 5-4, on Wednesday, March 21 in Orlando, Fla. The Lady Reds play two other spring-trip matches, including Colorado College on Friday, March 23 at 9 a.m., EDT and Hope College on Friday, March 23 at 4 p.m., EDT.
In the loss to Grinnell, Carthage's
Hollis McPeek (Sr., Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest, 9-8) defeated Sadhana Athreya, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 1 singles.
Bari Reynolds (So., Sterling, Ill., 15-5) lost to Shirlene Luk, Luk winning, 7-5, 6-2,, at No. 2 singles.
Haleigh McPeek (Fr., Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest, 1-2) was a winner at No. 3 singles.
Kristina Naidicz (Sr., Kenosha, Wis./Tremper, 10-9) lost at No. 4 singles, as did
Erin Henrickson (Fr., Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South, 5-13) at No. 5 singles and
Abbi Howell (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest, 0-1) at No. 6 singles.
Carthage's No. 1 doubles team of McPeek and McPeek (3-0) was an 8-5 winner over Athreya and Laura Krull. The Lady Reds' No. 2 team of Reynolds and Naidicz (0-3) fell to the Pioneers. Carthage's No. 3 tandem of Henrickson and Bizub (2-1) was a winner over Grinnell.
