The Carthage College women's track and field team (42-12-2 indoor record) finished second at the Saturday, Feb. 18 University of Chicago “Margaret Bradley Invitational” at the Henry Crown Field House in Chicago.
The host-Maroons won the 10-team event with 174.50 points, followed by Carthage second at 116, Loyola University (Ill.) third at 67, St. Xavier University fourth at 62, the Illinois Institute of Technology fifth at 43.50, Aurora University sixth at 42, Illinois-Chicago seventh at 24, Benedictine University (Ill.) eighth at 19, the University of St. Francis (Ill.) ninth at 13 and Oakton Community College 10
th with nine points.
The Lady Reds collected wins from
Samantha Nelson (So. Oshkosh, Wis./West) in the 55-meter high hurdles (9.04),
Patti Laufenberg (So., Waunakee, Wis.) in the 200-meter dash (26.77) and
Sarah Thompson (Sr., Byron, Ill.) in the long jump (16-11 ¼).
Becca McMullin (Fr., Round Lake, Ill./Fox Lake-Grant Community) was second in the weight throw (46-7 ¼) and third in the shot put (37-2 ½).
Margaux Canup was second in the 55-meter high hurdles (9.07), as was
Kelsey Wilhelm (Fr., Lisle, Ill.) in the 200-meter dash (26.99),
Bridget Driscoll (Jr., Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) in the 400-meter dash (1:02.06) and
Katie Kummerer (So., Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale-Central) in the 3,000-meter run (10:27.53).
Makenzi Morris (Fr., Crown Point, Ind.) finished third in the 200-meter dash (27.00), as did
Kendra Koeppen (Jr., Mason City, Ill./Illini Central) in the weight throw (45-5 ¼).
Carthage travels to Naperville, Ill., on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 24-25 for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Indoor Track and Field Championship at North Central College's Al B. Carious Track (1 p.m./10:30 a.m.).
