The Carthage College women's track and field team (8-2 indoor record) opened its indoor season on Friday-Saturday, Jan. 13-14 with a third-place finish at the Private College Invitational at Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center in Kenosha, Wis.
Wisconsin-Milwaukee won the 11-team event with 162.50 points, followed by Olivet Nazarene University second at 137, Carthage third at 116, Ashford University fourth at 62, Carroll University (Wis.) fifth at 48, the Milwaukee School of Engineering sixth at 37, the Illinois Institute of Technology seventh at 27, Concordia University (Chicago) eighth at 25.50, Wisconsin-Parkside ninth at 23, Beloit College 10th at 11 and Concordia University (Wis.) 11th with nine points.
Carthage's
Margaux Canup (Fr., Milford, Mich.) won the long jump (16-10 ½), and
Sarah Thompson (Sr., Byron, Ill.) took first place in the pentathlon (2,877 points) .
Molly Chlum (Sr., Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) finished second in the 55-meter dash (7.49), as did
Katie Kummerer (So., Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale-Central) in the 3,000-meter run (10:48.20).
Makenzi Morris (Fr., Crown Point, Ind.) was third in the 400-meter dash (1:01.71), as was
Joslyn Drew (Sr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) in the triple jump (34-6 ¾) and
Courtney Conrad (Jr., Lake in the Hills, Ill./Crystal Lake-South) in the pentathlon (2,694 points).
The Lady Reds travel to Naperville, Ill., on Friday, Jan. 20 for the North Central College “Cardinal Opener” at Merner Fieldhouse, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
