The Carthage College women's golf team (48-18-1) tied for first place at the Tuesday, Sept. 20 Elmhurst College “Bluejay Invitational” at the Oak Brook Golf Club in Oak Brook, Ill. 

Carthage and Olivet Nazarene University tied for the title at the 10-team event at 347 each. The University of St. Francis (Ill.) was third at 356, followed by Elmhurst and Robert Morris University (Ill.) tied for fourth at 366 each, the Carthage “B” team sixth at 377, the North Central College “B” team seventh at 383, Judson University and Lincoln Community College tied for eighth place at 387 each and Aurora University 10th with a 407 mark.

 

Debby Bouzeos from Wheaton College (Ill.), playing as an individual, took medalist honors with an 80. Carthage's Heidi Chronowski (Jr., Monticello, Iowa) finished fourth at 83, with Tabby Bell (Jr., Bloomington, Ill./Central Catholic), Erin Holst (Fr., Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) and Taylor McAdams (Jr., Sycamore, Ill.) each tied for ninth place with 88s. Jenna Apple (Jr., Bloomington, Ill.) tied for 17th place with an 89, and Julie Klawitter (Jr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) tied for 23rd with a 90.

 

For the Lady Reds' “B” team, Taylor Dory (So., Menomonee Falls, Wis.) shot an 85, Natalie Haines (So., Geneva, Ill./Aurora-Rosary) an 88, Joanna Young (Jr., Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) a 97, Michelle Braun (Sr., Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) a 107, Haylee Eckert (Sr., Roanoke, Ind./Fort Wayne-Bishop Luers) a 110, and Marissa Wilson (So., Loda, Ill./Paxton-Buckley-Loda) finished with a 111.

 

On Wednesday, Sept. 21, the Lady Reds were scheduled to play host to the Carthage Invitational at The Club at Strawberry Creek, but that event has been canceled. Carthage concludes the week by traveling to Janesville, Wis., for the Friday-Saturday, Sept. 23-24 Wisconsin-Whitewater “Fall Fling” at the Riverside Golf Course (1 p.m./10 a.m.).
