The Carthage College women's golf team (8-2) opened its 2011-12 season by finishing third at the Friday, Sept. 2 Robert Morris University-Lake County “Fall Classic” at the Bonnie Brook Golf Course in Waukegan, Ill. 

Olivet College won the 13-team event with a 341 team score, two strokes ahead of second-place Wheaton College (Ill.) at 343.  Carthage was third with a 350, followed by the Wisconsin-Whitewater “B” team fourth at 351, Holy Cross College (Ind.) fifth at 353, Elmhurst College sixth at 358, the University of St. Francis (Ill.) seventh at 360, St. Mary-of-the-Woods College eighth at 371, Robert Morris-Lake County ninth at 375, the North Central College “B” team 10th at 392, Judson University (Ill.) 11th at 394, North Park University 12th at 442 and Benedictine University (Ill.) 13th with a 506 mark.

Ashley Beverage from Elmhurst took medalist honors with an 81. Carthage's Julie Klawitter (Jr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) tied for 11th place with an 85, and Heidi Chronowski (Jr., Monticello, Iowa) tied for 17th at 87. Erin Holst (Fr., Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley), Michelle Braun (Sr., Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) and Aubrie Morano (Sr., North Prairie, Wis./Wales-Kettle Moraine ) tied for 24th at 89 each, and Tabby Bell (Jr., Bloomington, Ill./Central Catholic) tied for 30th place with a 90. Jenna Apple (Jr., Bloomington, Ill.) and Taylor McAdams (Jr., Sycamore, Ill.), both playing as individuals, tied for fourth place at 84 each. 

The Lady Reds travel to Naperville, Ill., on Tuesday, Sept. 6 to play in the North Central College “Fall Classic” at the Cress Creek Country Club, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
