The Carthage College men's golf team (35-1) won the Sunday, Sept. 18 Benedictine University (Ill.) Fall Invitational at the St. Andrews Golf and Country Club in West Chicago, Ill.

The Red Men took first place at the 24-team event with a 299 team score, three strokes ahead of second-place North Park University at 302. Edgewood College was third at 304, followed by Ashford University and Aurora University tied for fourth place at 307 each, the Milwaukee School of Engineering sixth at 313, Lakeland College seventh at 314, the Carthage “B” team eighth at 317, North Central College ninth at 318, Benedictine (Ill.) 10th at 319, Elmhurst college 11th at 321, the MSOE “B” team 12th at 324, Marian University (Wis.) 13th at 328, Wisconsin Lutheran College 14th at 330, the North Central (Ill.) “B” team 15th at 332, the Elmhurst “B” team 16th at 334, the Benedictine (Ill.) “B” team 17th at 335, Beloit College 18th at 342, the Aurora “B” team 19th at 348, Lawrence University and the Wisconsin Lutheran “B” team tied for 20th place at 352 each, Dominican University (Ill.) 22nd at 355, Concordia University (Wis.) 23rd at 366 and the North Park “B” team 24th with a 370 mark.

Carthage's Riley Bauman (So., Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) took medalist honors with a one-under-par 71, and Donnie Langland (Jr., Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) tied for sixth place at 75. Brendan Jones (Sr., St. Charles, Ill./West Chicago) tied for 15h place at 76, Brad Hyland (So., Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) tied for 20th at 77, and Josh Kopka (So., Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) tied for 23rd place with a 78.

For the Red Men's “B” team, Ben Schroeder (So., Mundelein, Ill.) shot a 78, Dominic Madrigano (Jr., Spring Grove, Ill./Grayslake-Central) a 79, Anthony Burdi (So., Carol Stream, Ill./Bartlett) a 79, Nate Moore (Jr., Moline, Ill.) an 81, and Tyler Prickette (So., Appleton, Wis./Xavier) shot an 86.

On Sunday-Monday, Sept, 25-26, Carthage plays in the Wisconsin Lutheran College Fall Invitational at the Washington County Golf Course in Hartford, Wis. (10:30 a.m./8 a.m.).
