The Carthage College men's cross country team (8-0) won the Saturday, Sept. 17 Concordia University (Wis.) “Falcon Invitational” in Mequon, Wis.
The Red Men won the 11-team event with 34 points, nine points ahead of second-place Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 43. Aurora University was third at 110, followed by the host-Falcons fourth at 112, Rockford College fifth at 156, Ripon College sixth at 174, Lake Forest College seventh at 204, Prairie State College eighth at 224, Waubonsee Community College ninth at 258, Maranatha Baptist Bible College 10th at 277 and Cardinal Stritch University 11th with 345 points.
Aurora University's Drew Schmitt won the 8K race with a time of 25:55.30. Carthage's
Jake Mahaffey (Jr., Mahomet, Ill. /Mahomet-Seymour) was second at 26:03.30, with
Dan August (So., Mokena, Ill./Frankfort—Lincoln-Way East) third at 26:44.50.
Grant Seiler (Jr., Greenfield, Wis./Whitnall) was eighth at 26:56.40,
Russell Wetzel (Sr., Champaign, Ill./Central) 12th at 27:13.40, and
J.D. Fuller (Fr., Woodstock, Ill.) finished 16th at 27:24.80.

Carthage splits squads on Saturday, Sept. 24, sending part of the team to Falcon Heights, Minn., for the University of Minnesota “Roy Griak Invitational” at the Les Bolstad Golf Course, beginning at 10:40 a.m. The rest of the team travels to Warrenville, Ill., on Saturday Sept. 24 to run in the Wheaton College (Ill.) Invitational at the St. James Farm Forest Preserve, beginning at 10 a.m.
