Results

The Carthage College women's golf team (27-9) finished third at the Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 10-11 Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational at the Oshkosh Country Club in Oshkosh, Wis.  The Lady Reds had a three-stroke lead midway through the event. 

Wisconsin-Stevens Point won the eight-team tournament with a 338-329-667, two strokes ahead of second-place Carroll University at 340-329-669. Carthage was third at 332-341-673, followed by Wisconsin-Whitewater fourth at 335-340-675, Wisconsin-Platteville fifth at 376,-348-724, the host-Titans sixth at 355-372-727, St. Norbert College seventh at 378-378-756 and Ripon College eighth with a 394-381-775 mark. 
 
Wisconsin-Stevens Point's Mary Welch took medalist honors with an 81-72-153.  Carthage's Erin Holst (Fr., Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley, 85.4 season average) was second at 76-79-155. Her two-day score broke a Carthage record of 156 set by Sarah Joers at the Millikin “Red Tail Run Invitational” on Sept, 27-28, 2008. Her first-day round of 76 tied a Carthage record first set by Whitney Shartle at the Illinois Wesleyan “Fall Classic” on Sept. 18, 2004 and subsequently matched by Joers at the Illinois Wesleyan “Fall Classic” on Sept. 21, 2008. 

Taylor McAdams (Jr., Sycamore, Ill., team-leading 84.8) finished third at 80-84-164, Heidi Chronowski (Jr., Monticello, Iowa, 86.5) tied for 15th at 84-89-173, Julie Klawitter (Jr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey, 89.4) 29th at 92-89-181, and Michelle Braun (Sr., Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West, 93.8) tied for 44th place with a 94-103-197. 

Three other Lady Reds played as individuals.  Jenna Apple (Jr., Bloomington, Ill., 90.8) tied for 15th place at 86-87-173.  Tabby Bell (Jr., Bloomington, Ill./Central Catholic, 90.8) was 26th at 90-88-178, and Aubrie Morano (Sr., North Prairie, Wis./Wales-Kettle Moraine, 91.2) was 30th with a 93-89-182.

Carthage travels to Normal, Ill., on Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 17-18 to play in the Illinois Wesleyan University “Fall Classic” at the Ironwood Golf Course, beginning at 9 a.m., each day.
