Carthage College Director of Athletics Robert Bonn has named Andy Bax head women's water polo coach Bax replaces Sarah Zink, who resigned in July 2011.

Bax served as a Carthage student assistant water polo coach in 2010 and 2011 and in the same capacity for the 2010 swimming team. A native of Naperville, Ill., and an all-state high school water polo player at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, Ill., Bax was a four-year member of the Carthage swimming team between 2006 and 2009. He earned All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin honors three-straight years from 2007 to 2009. Bax still holds the Red Men's record in the 50 freestyle and was part of school-record relay teams in the 200 medley, the 200 freestyle and the 400 freestyle.

Bax was named 2008 and 2009 College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-American. He graduated in 2010 with a bachelor's in elementary education and special education.
