Carthage College Director of Athletics
Robert Bonn has named Phil Bastron assistant women's track and field coach. Bastron replaces Susanna Swenson, who resigned prior to this past year's indoor season.
Bastron served as an assistant women's track and field coach at the University of Minnesota from 2009 until 2011, as well as the meet director for the 2011 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Indoor Track and field Championship. A native of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., he graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 2009 with a bachelor's in international economics and French and was a three-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-American in the relays. He was also named and ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America® his senior year. Bastron received his master's in public policy from Minnesota in 2011, as well as his USA Track & Field Level 2 Coaching Certification.
