Millikin University will play host to the CCIW Softball Tournament at the lighted Borg Warner Sports Complex in Decatur, Ill., on Thursday-Friday, May 5-6. The tournament, traditionally a Friday-Saturday event, was moved up one day to accommodate Wheaton College (Ill.), which cannot play on Sundays. Saturday, May 7 is a rain date for the tournament.
Carthage College (20-14, 10-4 CCIW) will be the second seed and will play third-seeded North Central College (23-12, 9-5) in the opening game on Thursday, May 5 at Noon. Conference-champion and top-seeded Millikin (23-13, 11-3) takes on fourth-seeded Wheaton College (Ill., 23-15-1, 7-7) in the other first-round game at 2 p.m. Play continues with games at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday. The tournament concludes with games at 10 a.m. and Noon on Friday.

Amy Gillmore's 12th trip to the conference tournament since taking over the program in 1998. Only the 2002 and 2006 teams failed to qualify for the tournament. North Central swept Millikin, 6-4 and 4-0, on Sunday to claim the third seed.
To reach the Borg Warner Sports Complex, follow I-294 around Chicago. Exit I-294 at I-55 south to Bloomington, Ill. Exit I-55 at U.S. 51 south to Decatur, Ill. Follow Business U.S. 51 through and past downtown Decatur. Go past Lake Decatur on the south side of town and the field will be on the right, just past a residential and commercial area.
