As part of the construction of Carthage College's new student center on the south end of campus, Art Keller Field is getting a new press box. The student center, rising on the site of the former W.A. Seidemann Natatorium, will open this summer and feature gathering spaces for students, new dining options, a new Barnes & Noble campus book store, a 200-seat theatre, and an art gallery.
The new press box will face Art Keller Field from the upper floor of the student center. The press box features two game-management rooms, separate rooms for home and visiting coaches, a home radio booth, a film room and a special-events room. The press box runs from the 50-yard line to the north 25-yard line.
Directly below the press box will be a Seattle's Best coffee operation with both an indoor counter and outdoor service area that will face Art Keller Field. Carthage fans will enjoy 1,800 new seats in the new home cheering section on the east side of the field. Standing room on the plaza adjacent to the student center, along with the 1,000 existing west-side seats, will boost the total capacity of Art Keller Field to approximately 3,300.
