The Carthage College softball team (17-13, 7-3 Colleg Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) travels to Naperville, Ill., on Monday, April 25 to play CCIW-opponent and No. 24 North Central College (18-9, 5-3 CCIW) in a 3 p.m. doubleheader at the Shanower Family Softball Field. Monday's set was rained out on April 19.
With one week to go in the season, Millikin University (21-9, 9-1 CCIW) leads the CCIW race. The Big Blue still have a doubleheader at Wheaton College (Ill.) on April 30 and a home twinbill versus North Central College on May 1. Carthage (17-13, 7-3) is second with games against North Central (Ill.) on April 25 and Elmhurst College on April 30.
After that, there are four teams in the hunt for two sports. North Central (Ill., 18-9, 5-3) is third with games remaining against Carthage on April 25, Augustana College (Ill.) on April 30 and Millikin on May 1. Wheaton College (Ill., 18-13, 5-5) is fourth with games left against North Park University on April 26 and Elmhurst on April 28. Pre-season favorite Augustana (Ill., 17-17, 5-7), currently in fifth place, plays North Central (Ill.) on April 30. Elmhurst (12-22, 4-6), in sixth place but very much in contention for a tournament berth, plays North Park on April 28 and Carthage on April 30.
