The Carthage College women's track and field team (30-5-1 outdoor record), ranked 16th in the April 20 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches of America NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field poll and seventh in the regional poll, finished third at the Friday, April 22 Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh, Wis.
The host-Titans won the seven-team event with 245.33 points, followed by Wisconsin-Stevens Point second at 114.66, Carthage third at 78, Wisconsin-Platteville fourth at 42, Concordia University (Wis.) fifth at 34, Ripon College sixth at 32 and Lawrence University seventh with 10 points.
Carthage's Mindy Harrington (Sr., Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond-Burton) took second place in the shot put (43-8) and third in the discus (133-4). Karin Wirth (So., Springfield, Ill./Pleasant Plains) was second in the 1,500-meter run (4:53.23), as was Morgan Wiechmann (Jr., Sleepy Hollow, Ill./Carpentersville—Dundee-Crown) in the 10,000-meter run (39:40.72). Lauren Sible (Jr., Oregon, Ill./Byron) was third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:10.10), as was Christine Nelson (Jr., Rock City, Ill./Dakota) in the high jump (5-0 ¼). The Lady Reds travel to Milwaukee on Saturday, April 30 for the Wisconsin Private College Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Wisconsin Lutheran College's Raabe Stadium, beginning at 11 a.m.
