The Carthage College women's golf team (55-49) finished ninth at the Friday, April 15 Millikin University “Spring Classic” at the Scovill Golf Course in Decatur, Ill.
Washington University (Mo.) won the 10-team event with a 333, 11 strokes ahead of second-place Rend Lake Community College at 344. Franklin College is third at 354, followed by Wheaton College (Ill.) fourth at 356, the Indiana Institute of Technology fifth at 363, Millikin sixth at 367, McKendree University seventh at 372, Augustana College (Ill.) eighth at 380, Carthage ninth at 395 and Kaskaskia Community College 10th with a 433 mark.
Heavy rain in the Decatur-area forced a stoppage of play on Saturday, April 16, and the tournament, originally scheduled as a two-day event, became an official one-day event with Friday's first-round scores becoming final results.
Hannah Buck from Washington (Mo.) took medalist honors with an 81. Carthage's
Natalie Haines (Fr., Geneva, Ill./Aurora-Rosary) tied for 30th place with a 93.
Tabby Bell (So., Bloomington, Ill./Central Catholic) tied for 34th at 96,
Amy Binstein (Sr., Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) tied for 52nd at 102,
Heidi Hoffman (Sr., Appleton, Wis./North) tied for 55th at 103, and
Jenna Apple (So., Bloomington, Ill.) tied for 58th place with a 104.
Heidi Chronowski (So., Monticello, Iowa), playing as an individual, shot a 103, and
Kiki Buege (So., Hudson, Wis.), also playing as an individual, shot a 108.
Carthage travels to Janesville, Wis., on Friday, April 22 to play in the Wisconsin-Whitewater “Spring Fling” at the Riverside Golf Course, beginning at 10 a.m.
