The Carthage College men's golf team (93-14) finished fourth at the Friday-Saturday, April 1-2 Illinois Wesleyan University Spring Invitational at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill.

The host-Titans won the 22-team event with a 295-311-606 team score, nine strokes ahead of Millikin University at 299-316-615. Nebraska Wesleyan University was third at 306-312-618, followed by Carthage fourth at 306-313-619, the Illinois Wesleyan “B” team fifth at 310-319-629, the University of Dubuque sixth at 320-316-636, Monmouth College seventh at 321-322-643, Wisconsin-Stout at 325-321-646 tied for eighth place with Parkland Community College 325-321-646, Carroll University (Wis.) 10th at 323-323-646, Webster University 11th at 324-324-648, Benedictine University (Ill.) 12th at 324-331-655, the Milwaukee School of Engineering 13th at 330-327-657, Elmhurst College 14th at 331-329-660, Augustana College (Ill.) 16th at 334-328-662, Knox College 17th at 324-345-669, Edgewood College 17th at 335-335-670, North Central College 18th at 335-338-673, Robert Morris University (Ill.) 19th at 342-335-677,Grinnell College 20th at 339-346-685, Fontbonne University 21st at 352-347-699 and Eureka College 22nd with a 420-398-818 mark.

Illinois Wesleyan's Shane Smith took medalist honors with a 71-75-146. Carthage's Donnie Langland (So., Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs, 74.0 season average) finished second at 74-73-147. Brad Hyland (Fr., Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge, 77.3) at 77-82-159 and Anthony Burdi (Fr., Carol Stream, Ill./Bartlett, 76.3) at 78-81-159 tied for 27th place. Tyler Prickette (Fr., Appleton, Wis./Xavier, 77.3) at 77-84-161 and Riley Bauman (Fr., Crystal Lake, Ill./Central, 78.7) at 84-77-161 tied for 40th place. The Red Men travel to Green Lake, Wis., on Saturday-Sunday, April 9-10 for the Ripon College Invitational at the Lawsonia Golf Links Course.
