Lady Reds Start Spring Trip to Pennsylvania on March 16

The Carthage College women's water polo team (0-0), tied for ninth place in the March 2 Collegiate Water Polo Association's NCAA Division III poll, went 3-0 at the Saturday, March 5 Carthage Mini-Tournament at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis. The Lady Reds defeated the University of Wisconsin-Madison club team, 12-4; won over the Lindenwood University club team, 7-1; and defeated Windy City by a 5-2 margin.
 
Carthage's Kimmy Genian (Sr., Gurnee, Ill./Highland Park) scored three goals against Wisconsin-Madison.  Mari Paraskevopoulos (Jr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey), Kati Pedersen (Jr., Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) and Hillary Veselik (Fr., Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) scored two goals each against Lindenwood, with Veselik and Pedersen collecting had two goals each in the Windy City contest.
 
Carthage opens a seven-game spring trip to Erie, Pa., on Wednesday, March 16 by playing two matches at Gannon University in Erie, Pa. The Lady Reds take on Mercyhurst College at 4 p.m., (all times EDT) and Gannon at 7 p.m.. On Friday-Sunday, March 18-20, Carthage plays in the Penn State-Behrend Tournament, also in Erie. On Friday, March 18, the Lady Reds play Macalester College at 1:30 p.m. and Wheaton College (Ill.) at 7 p.m. On Saturday, March 19, Carthage takes on Penn State-Behrend at Noon and Utica College at 3 p.m. On Sunday, March 20, the Lady Reds play Connecticut College at Noon.
