Carthage College's Kimmy Genian (Sr., Gurnee, Ill./Highland Park) and Christine Menzenberger (Sr., Mokena, Ill./Frankfort-Lincoln-Way East) were named the Collegiate Water Polo Association's NCAA Division III “Players of the Week” on March 21.
Genian tallied 11 goals, 10 assists, seven steals, a field block, 14 sprint victories and five drawn ejections over seven games, as the Lady Reds compiled a 5-2 mark. Following a three-goal performance to open the week against Mercyhurst College and a steal with five kickouts-drawn against Gannon University, Genian and the rest of the Carthage squad downed Macalester College, Wheaton College (Ill.)), Penn State-Behrend, Utica College and Connecticut College (19-4 W) to win the March 17-19 Penn State-Behrend Tournament.
Menzenberger contributed 51 saves, six assists and four steals over the course of the week. Hillary Veselik (Fr., Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) earned CWPA honorable mention “Rookie of the Week” honors.
