The Carthage College women's water polo team (0-0), ranked ninth in the Feb. 23 Collegiate Water Polo Association's NCAA Division III poll, went 3-1 at the Friday-Saturday, Feb. 25-26 University of Notre Dame Club Tournament at the Rolfs Aquatic Center in South Bend, Ind.
On Friday, Feb. 25, Carthage defeated Grand Valley State University, 9-7. On Sunday, Feb. 25, the Lady Reds edged Michigan State University, 8-7; lost to the University of Florida, 8-6; and edged the University of Iowa, 6-5.
Kimmy Genian (Sr., Gurnee, Ill./Highland Park) scored five goals against Grand Valley. Hillary Veslik (Fr., Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) had four goals in the Michigan State contest, while Christine Menzenberger (Sr., Mokena, Ill./Frankfort—Lincoln-Way East) collected 12 saves. In the Florida match, the Lady Reds had two goals each from Genian, Veslik and Kati Pedersen (Jr., Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest). Against Iowa, Genian had three goals, while Menzenberger collected 13 saves.
