The Carthage College men's swimming team (5-3 dual-meet record), ranked 27th in the Feb. 9 CollegeSwimming.com/College Swimming Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III poll, won the Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 17-19 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Swimming Championship at the Wheaton College (Ill.) Chrouser Fitness Center Pool in Wheaton, Ill. 

The Red Men won their fifth CCIW title and fourth in a row with 956 points, followed by Wheaton (Ill.) second at 858.50, the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology third at 571, Illinois Wesleyan University fourth at 448, Augustana College (Ill.) fifth at 246.50, Millikin University sixth at 150 and North Central College seventh with 123 points. 
 
Carthage's Ryan Ortmann (Jr., Woodstock, Ill.) won both the 50 freestyle (21.08) and the 100 freestyle (46.13).  Kyle Drake (Sr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) won the 200 backstroke (1:50.35), while finishing second in both the 400 individual medley (4:07.86) and the 500 freestyle.  Doug Schranck (Jr., Alton, Ill./Marquette Catholic) won the 200 butterfly (1:54.01), while  finishing third in both the 100 butterfly (51.16) and the 200 individual medley (1:57.74).  Adam Van Huis (Jr., Winneconne, Wis.) won the 200 breaststroke (2:08.35). 

Chris Varner (Sr., Wildwood, Mo./Eureka) was second in the 100 backstroke (52.13), as was Adam Glover (Jr., Eureka, Mo.) in the 1,650 freestyle (16:30.85). Connor McCurrie (Fr., Wilmette, Ill./Winnetka-New Trier) was third in both the 500 freestyle (4:46.28) and the 1,650 freestyle (16:31.60). Jake Carabelli (So., South Beloit, Ill./Rockton-Hononegah) took third place in both the 200 butterfly (2:01.19) and the 200 freestyle (1:44.87).  

Carthage also picked up wins from its 200 freestyle relay team of Ortmann, Bob Pellican (Sr., Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey), Daniel Jones (Jr., Brown Deer, Wis.) and Blake Bendix (Sr., St. Cloud, Minn./Tech, 1:23.90), its 400 freestyle relay team of Pellican, Bendix, Ortmann and Isaac Rothenbaum (Sr., Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest, 3:04.90) and its 800 freestyle relay team of Drake, Varner, Rothenbaum and Carabelli (6:56.28).
