Carthage's Steven Mathe and Ember McCoy Named CCIW "Swimmers of the Week" on Feb. 1

Carthage College's Steven Mathe (So., Wauconda, Ill./Mundelein-Carmel Catholic) and Ember McCoy (Fr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) were named CCIW “Swimmers of the Week” on Feb. 1.

Mathe helped Carthage win the Jan. 29 Wisconsin Private College Championship with a pair of wins and a season-best time in the 1,650 freestyle, dropping nine seconds and going an un-tapered best time of 17:13.84. He also had an un-tapered best time in the 500 freestyle (4:58.04) and led off the winning 200 freestyle relay.

McCoy placed first in the 500 freestyle (5:16.88), as the Lady Reds also won the Wisconsin Private College Championship. McCoy beat her best in-season time by four seconds. She also swam a lifetime best in the 200 freestyle relay, splitting a 25.6, and went a lifetime best in the 200 breaststroke (2:40.35).
