Results
The Carthage College women's swimming team (5-0 dual meet record) won the Friday-Saturday, Dec. 2-3 Carthage Swimming Classic at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis. The Lady Reds won the five-team women's event with 1,054 points, followed by Lewis University second at 757.50, Lake Forest College third at 613.50, Olivet College fourth at 575 and Robert Morris University (Ill.) fifth with 91 points.
Carthage's
Ashley Gladis (Fr., Batavia, Ill.) won three events, taking first place in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.17), the 200 individual medley (2:10.77) and the 400 individual medley (4:38.95), while finishing second in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.99).
Ember McCoy (So. Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) won both the 200 freestyle (1:57.35) and the 500 freestyle (5:11.37), while finishing third in both the 100 freestyle (55.20) and the 1,650 freestyle (17:53.60).
Allison Soper (Fr., Downers Grove, Ill./North) won the 200 breaststroke (2:28.81), and
Jensena Paul (Sr., Portage, Wis.) took first place in the 100 backstroke (1:00.12).
Kelly Loftus (So. Winfield, Ill./West Chicago) was second in both the 100 butterfly (59.78) and the 200 backstroke (2:07.96).
Sarah Wodnik (So., Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar) took third place in both the 100 butterfly (1:00.60) and the 200 butterfly (2:19.03), and
Natalia Bialecka So., Des Plaines, Ill./Park Ridge-Maine East) claimed third place in both 50 freestyle (24.91) and the 200 freestyle (2:00.23).
Allison Soper (Fr., Downers Grove, Ill./North) finished third in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.01), as did
Susan Peinsipp (So., Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) in the 400 individual medley (4:55.61).
The Lady Reds also picked up wins from their 400 medley relay team of Paul, Gladis, Loftus and McCoy with a time of 4:04.63, their 200 medley relay team of Paul, Gladis, Loftus and
Megan Shover (Fr., Prospect Heights, Ill./Arlington Heights-St. Viator) with a time of 1:50.22 and their 400 freestyle relay team of Bialecka, Paul,
Lisa Perdue (Fr., Whittier, Calif.) and McCoy.
Carthage returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 7 versus Lewis University in 1 p.m. dual meet at the Lewis Pool in Romeoville, Ill.
