The Carthage College women's swimming team (5-0 dual meet record) finished fourth at the Friday-Saturday, Nov. 18-19 Wabash College “Patrick Woehnker Invitational.” The two-day event was conducted at the Wabash Class of 1950 Natatorium in Crawfordsville, Ind.
DePauw University won the seven-team event with 634 points, followed by Wheaton College (Ill.) second at 565.50, the University of Indianapolis third at 486, Carthage fourth at 457, Asbury University fifth at 360.50, St. Mary's College (Ind.) sixth at 168 and the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology seventh with 98 points.
Carthage's
Ember McCoy (So. Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) led the Lady Reds by gaining 60 out of the 457 points. McCoy finished third in the 500 freestyle (5:17.19), fourth in both the 200 freestyle (2:00.12) and the 1,650 freestyle (18:09.91) and fifth in the 100 freestyle (56.02).
Kelly Loftus (So. Winfield, Ill./West Chicago) collected 51 points with a first-place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:11.21), third in the 400 individual medley (4:49.13) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:00.56).
Ashley Gladis (Fr. Batavia, Ill./Batavia) finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:00.31), fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.09) and sixth in the 200 breaststroke.
The Lady Reds will play host the “Carthage College Swimming Classic” on Dec. 2-3 at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis. (9 a.m./5 p.m. both days).
