The Carthage College women's cross country team (22-7-1) finished second at the Saturday, Oct. 8 Wisconsin-Parkside “Lucia Rose Invitational” at Wisconsin-Parkside's Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Somers, Wis. 

Wisconsin-Parkside won the 10-team event with 20 points, followed by Carthage second at 83, Franklin College third at 93, Augsburg College fourth at 105, Edgewood College fifth at 110, Cardinal Stritch University sixth at 197, Concordia University (Chicago) seventh at 203, Cloud Community College eighth at 215, Moraine Valley Community College ninth at 229 and Dominican University (Ill.) 10th with 253 points.
 
Wisconsin-Parkside's Hope Christie won the 5K race with a time of 18:54.90.  Carthage's Karin Wirth (Jr., Springfield, Ill./Pleasant Plains) was fifth at 20:03.80, and Morgan Wiechmann (Sr., Sleepy Hollow, Ill./Carpentersville—Dundee-Crown) was 14th at 20:39.60.  Lauren Sible (Sr., Oregon, Ill./Byron) was 21st at 21:03.60, Katie Schmidt (Sr., Lemont, Ill.) 23rd at 21:15.00, and Grace Heal (So., Sycamore, Ill.) finished 29th with a time of 21:40.50.

Carthage travels to Winneconne, Wis., on Saturday, Oct. 15 to run in the Wisconsin-Oshkosh “Brooks Invitational” at the Lake Breeze Golf Course, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
