The Carthage College men's lacrosse team led all of NCAA Division III in 2011 man-up scoring percentage. After finishing the 2010 season ranked 10th in the nation, last year's team set a goal of leading the country and did so with a percentage of .541.
The Red Men scored on 40-of-74 opportunities, finishing well ahead of the State University of New York-Cortland (.474) and Tufts University (.463). Senior attackman/midfielder,
Keegan Bowman (2012 senior, New Westminster, British Columbia) led the way with 12 of those goals, followed by
Danny Morse (So., O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) second with eight and
Cory Childs (Sr., Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) collecting seven.
Carthage also finished the 2011 season ranked seventh nationally in goals per game at 15.00 and ranked in the top-10 in six other offensive categories.
"Man-up offense requires a lot of smart decision making under time pressure,” points out Carthage head coach
David Neff, “and we are really proud of our guys for maintaining a good level of discipline throughout the year. I also know we could have had a couple more of those missed opportunities, so we will continue to try and improve on last year's effort.”
