The Carthage College men's cross country team (18-21) finished 16th at the Saturday, Sept. 25 for the University of Minnesota “Roy Griak Invitational” at the Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn. 

Wisconsin-Platteville won the NCAA Division III portion of the race with 47 points, followed by Wisconsin-Eau Claire second at 99, Wisconsin-Oshkosh third at 123, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College fourth at 143, Grinnell College fifth at 171, Hamline University sixth at 199, Loras College seventh at 238, Coe College eighth at 247, Wartburg College ninth at 288, Wisconsin-River Falls 10th at 359, Ripon College 11th at 390, Gustavus Adolphus College and Lawrence University tied for 12th at 409 each, Carleton College 14th at 416 and Carthage 15th with 429 points.

 

Tom Sederquist from Concordia College (Moorhead) won the 8K race with a time of 25:39.20. Carthage's Jake Mahaffey (So., Mahomet, Ill./Mahomet-Seymour) was 64th at 27:21.30, Grant Seiler (So., Greenfield, Wis./Milwaukee-Whitnall) 72nd at 27:33.10, Justin Sebens (Sr., Seymour, Ill./Mahomet-Seymour) 80th at 27:37.10, Alex Nelson (So., Red Wing, Minn.) 96th at 27:58.90 and Dan August (Fr., Mokena, Ill./Frankfort—Lincoln-Way East) 117th at 28:25.10. 

 

Also finishing for the Red Men were Tom Baran (Jr., Chicago, Ill./Niles-Notre Dame) at 28:28.30, Josh Solorio (Sr., West Allis, Wis./Milwaukee-West Allis Central) at 28:44.10, Paul Smith (So., Algonquin, Ill./Carpentersville—Dundee-Crown) at 29:03.40, Bill Quade (Sr., Lindenhurst, Ill./Lake Villa-Lakes Community) at 29:09.00, Russell Wetzel (Jr., Champaign, Ill./Central) at 29:20.60 and Will Novorolsky (Fr., Elburn, Ill./St. Charles-North) at 29:31.60. 

The Red Men play host to the Carthage Invitational on Friday, Oct. 1 at the Wisconsin-Parkside course in Somers, Wis., beginning at 2:30 p.m.
