The Carthage College women's golf team (2-2) opened its 2010-11 season by finishing third at the Wednesday, Sept. 1 University of St. Francis (Ill.) Invitational at the Inwood Golf Course in Joliet, Ill. North Central College won the five-team event with a 324 team score, three strokes ahead of the second-place Fighting Saints at 327. Carthage was third at 345, followed by Robert Morris University (Ill.) fourth at 346 and Elmhurst College fifth with a 360 mark.
North Central's Alyssa Gaudio took medalist honors with a 75. Carthage's
Heidi Hoffman (Sr., Appleton, Wis./North) tied for ninth place with an 83.
Amy Binstein (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) was 11th with an 85,
Jenna Apple (So., Bloomington, Ill.) and
Aubrie Morano (Jr., North Prairie, Wis./Wales-Kettle Moraine) tied for 13th with 88s and
Tabby Bell (So., Bloomington, Ill./Central Catholic) and
Katie Ramirez (Sr., Darien, Ill./Hinsdale-South) tied for 16th with 89s.
Natalie Haines (Fr., Geneva, Ill./Aurora-Rosary) shot a 95, and
Julie Klawitter Mount Prospect, Ill. (So., Arlington Heights-Hersey) finished with a 96.
The Lady Reds travel to North Chicago, Ill., on Friday, Sept. 3 to play in the Robert Morris (Ill.) “Fall Classic” at Foss Park.
