A month into the indoor season, Carthage throwers Josh Brennan (Jr., Geneva, Ill.) and Ross Bunchek (Jr., Valparaiso, Ind.) have treated the school record in the weight throw a bit like a hot potato. Entering the season, Brandon Jones-Harris held the record at 17.17 meters. Bunchek broke that record at the Jan. 16 Private College Invitational with a toss of 17.20 meters. Brennan eclipsed that at the Jan. 30 Carthage “Tadd Metzger Invitational” with a 17.45 effort. Bunchek took the record back at the Feb. 6 Illinois Wesleyan University “Bob Keck Invitational” with a 17.92 throw, but Brennan re-claimed the mark on Feb. 13 at the Chicagoland Indoor Track and Field Championship with an 18.01 toss.
