The Carthage College women's cross country team (43-51) finished sixth at the Saturday, Oct. 30 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Cross Country Championship at the Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill. 

North Central College won its sixth CCIW title and second in a row with 26 points, followed by Illinois Wesleyan University second at 63, Wheaton College (Ill.) third at 76, Elmhurst College fourth at 99, Augustana College (Ill.) fifth at 114 and Carthage sixth with 152 points. Millikin University and North Park University did not field complete teams.

 

North Central's Amanda Laesch won the 6K race with a time of 21:47.20.  Carthage's Katie Kummerer (Fr., Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale-Central) finished 23rd at 23:58.90, while Molly Lawrence (Sr., Plainfield, Ill./Central) was 29th at 24:21.80.  Karin Wirth (So., Springfield, Ill./Pleasant Plains) was 36th at 24:33.80, Lauren Sible (Jr., Oregon, Ill./Byron) 41st at 24:80.00 and Morgan Wiechmann (Jr., Sleepy Hollow, Ill./Carpentersville—Dundee-Crown) 43rd at 24:57.90. 

Also finishing for the Lady Reds were Katie DeLisle (Fr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) 47th at 25:11.90, Anabel Martinez (So., Aurora, Ill./East Aurora) 50th at 25:26.80, Kaylyn Haberland (Sr., Appleton, Wis./West) 53rd at 25:53.40, Katie Schmidt (Jr., Lemont, Ill.) 54th at 26:07.50 and Liz Lanning (Sr., St. Charles, Ill./North) 56th at 26:30.70. Carthage concludes its season on Saturday, Nov. 13 at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championship, also at the Saukie Golf Course, beginning at Noon.
