ResultsThe Carthage College men's cross country team (36-50) finished sixth at the Saturday, October 30 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Cross Country Championship at the Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill.
North Central College won its 44th CCIW title and 37th in a row with 17 points. The Cardinals claimed the top-three spots and seven of the top-eight finishers. Augustana College (Ill.) was second with 67 points, followed by Wheaton College (Ill.) third at 78, Illinois Wesleyan University fourth at 117, Elmhurst College fifth at 129 and Carthage sixth with 156 points. Millikin University and North Park University did not field complete teams.
North Central's Mike Spain won the 8K race with a time of 24:15.60. Carthage's Jake Mahaffey (So., Mahomet, Ill./Mahomet-Seymour) finished 26th with a time of 25:49.00, and Justin Sebens (Sr., Seymour, Ill./Mahomet-Seymour) was 29th at 26:08.20. Dan August (Fr., Mokena, Ill./Frankfort—Lincoln-Way East) was 41st at 26:54.80, Josh Solorio Sr., West Allis, Wis./Milwaukee-West Allis Central) 44th at 27:02.50, and Will Novorolsky (Fr., Elburn, Ill./St. Charles-North) was 47th at 27:17.50.
Also finishing for the Red Men were B.J. Fuller (Jr., Lake Villa, Ill./Lake Community) 50th at 27:34.00, Grant Seiler (So., Greenfield, Ill./Milwaukee-Whitnall) 51st at 27:45.80, Russell Wetzel (Jr., Champaign, Ill./Central) 59th at 28:10.90, Bill Quade (Sr., Lindenhurst, Ill./Lake Villa-Lakes Community) 60th at 28:23.60 and Paul Smith (So., Algonquin, Ill./Carpentersville—Dundee-Crown) 61st at 29:06.60. Carthage concludes its season on Saturday, Nov. 13 at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championship, also at the Saukie Golf Course, beginning at Noon.
