The Carthage College women's cross country team (25-18) finished second at the Friday, Oct. 1 Carthage Invitational at the Wisconsin-Parkside course in Somers, Wis. Marquette University won the four-team event with 18 points, followed by Carthage second at 50, North Central College (Ill.) third at 61 and Wisconsin-Oshkosh fourth with 91 points.

 

Marquette's Holly Robertson won the 6K race with a time of 23:31.00.  Carthage's Katie Kummerer (Fr., Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale-Central) was fourth at 24:09.90, Karin Wirth (So., Springfield, Ill./Pleasant Plains) ninth at 25:00.50, Molly Lawrence (Sr., Plainfield, Ill./Central) 10th at 25:02.20, Katie DeLisle (Fr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) 13th at 25:35.60 and Lauren Sible (Jr., Oregon, Ill./Byron) 14th at 25:42.90. 

Also finishing for the Lady Reds were Heather Crowe (So., Bensenville, Ill./Fenton) at 25:53.30, Bridget Driscoll (So., Tinley Park, Ill./Orland Hills-Andrew) at 26:09.30, Kaylyn Haberland (Sr., Appleton, Wis./West) at 26:14.80, Anabel Martinez (So., Aurora, Ill../East Aurora) at 26:19.70, Katie Garringer (Jr., Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) at 26:36.40, Liz Lanning (Sr., St. Charles, Ill./North) at 27:10.70, Sam Shackleford (Sr., McHenry, Ill./East) at 27:23.40, Nicole Phelps (Jr., Lisle, Ill.) at 28:14.90, Kayla Arbet (So., Burlington, Wis./Salem-Westosha Central) at 28:42.90, Jessica Layden (Sr., Wheeling, Ill./Buffalo Grove) at 28:58.90, Nikki Knieps (Jr., Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) at 29:09.80, Ellen Klahn (Sr., Montello, Wis./Princeton) at 30:14.80, Claren McLaughlin (Sr., Lodi, Wis.) at 30:25.50 and Anna Szuberski (So., Byron, Minn.) at 30:34.70.  Carthage travels to Lisle, Ill., on Friday, Oct. 8 for the Benedictine University (Ill.) “Eagle Invitational” at the Lisle Community Park, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
