The Carthage College men's lacrosse team (0-0, 0-0 Midwest Lacrosse Conference) won a pair of exhibition games on Friday, Jan. 29 at the Lake Barrington Field House in Barrington, Ill. Carthage defeated Illinois State University, 8-6, before defeating the University of Wisconsin by a 10-5 margin.
Keegan Bowman (So., New Westminster, British Columbia) lead all scorers in the Illinois State contest with four goals and two assists. Peter Slefinger (Fr., Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South) also added two scores. Slefinger led the Carthage attack against Wisconsin with seven points (five goals, two assists). Tony Panega (So., Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) led the team in ground balls. Carthage goalies Mariusz Dwornikowski (Fr., Chicago, Ill./Taft), Spencer Curley (So., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) and David Hoeft (So., Waunakee, Wis.) combined for a total of 16 assists with Hoeft leading the way with nine on the day.
The Red Men open their 2010 season on Saturday, Feb. 13 versus MLC-opponent Albion College in a 2 p.m., EST game at the Ultimate Soccer Arena in Pontiac, Mich.
