Carthage Men's Soccer Shut Out by Robert Morris (Ill.) on Sept. 16

The Carthage College men’s soccer team (1-3-3, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) was blanked by Robert Morris University (Ill., 2-5), 2-0, on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis. Following a scoreless first half, Robert Morris (Ill.) got on the board with a goal by Monroe Bell, assisted by Arturo Rosiles, at 70:00. Bart Dyczkowski added the second Eagles score with a goal, assisted by Kevin Lux, at 81:00. On Saturday, Sept. 19, the Red Men open their CCIW-schedule by traveling to Rock Island, Ill., to play Augustana College (Ill., 2-3, 0-0 CCIW) in a 1:30 p.m. contest at the Augustana Soccer Field.

Coach Brady Lindsley

Carthage women's tennis coach Brady Lindsley won his 200th career match in the fall of 2009. Lindsley, with a 204-79 record heading into the spring 2010 portion of the season, has been named CCIW "Women's Tennis Coach of the Year" three times.

Coach Leanne Ulmer

Head women's volleyball coach Leanne Ulmer entered the 2009 season with a .759 winning percentage over seven seasons, which ranks 12th among active NCAA Division III coaches. Ulmer has won six CCIW titles in nine years at Carthage, inclduing a shared title in 2004 and outright titles in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Carthage's 24th Varsity Sports Begins in 2009-10

Carthage launches its 24th varsity sport in 2009-10, as the women's lacrosse team begins varsity play with a March 9-13 trip to Southern California.

Carthage's "Mr. Touchdown"

The last living member of Carthage's first football team, the 1895 squad, was William Simmons, "02. Simmons was honored at a 1958 Carthage game for scoring the Red Men's first-ever home touchdown in an 18-0 win over Quincy University on Nov. 28, 1895 in Carthage, Ill. Simmons scored on a 75-yard fumble recovery.
