Carthage Women's Lacrosse Opens Inaugural Season in 2010

The Carthage College women’s lacrosse team opens its inaugural season on March 9, 2010 with a 7 p.m., PST game at Whittier College in Whittier, Calif. The game against the Poets kicks off a four-game California trip, with contests to follow at Pomona-Pitzer College, the University of Redlands and Occidental College. The Lady Reds play their home-opener on March 22 versus Linfield College at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis. Carthage will also play a series of scrimmages at the Oct. 10 Trine University Women’s Lacrosse Play Day in Angola, Ind. The Lady Reds take on the College of Mount St. Joseph, Albion College, Aquinas College and Indiana Tech.

Coach Leanne Ulmer
Head women's volleyball coach Leanne Ulmer entered the 2009 season with a .759 winning percentage over seven seasons, which ranks 12th among active NCAA Division III coaches.  Ulmer has won six CCIW titles in nine years at Carthage, inclduing a  shared title in 2004 and outright titles in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Carthage's "Mr. Touchdown"
The last living member of Carthage's first football team, the 1895 squad, was William Simmons, "02.  Simmons was honored at a 1958 Carthage game for scoring the Red Men's first-ever home touchdown in an 18-0 win over Quincy University on Nov. 28, 1895 in Carthage, Ill.  Simmons scored on a 75-yard fumble recovery.
Carthage's 24th Varsity Sports Begins in 2009-10
Carthage launches its 24th varsity sport in 2009-10, as the women's lacrosse team begins varsity play with a March 9-13 trip to Southern California.
Coach Brady Lindsley
Carthage women's tennis coach Brady Lindsley won his 200th career match in the fall of 2009.  Lindsley, with a 204-79 record heading into the spring 2010 portion of the season, has been named CCIW "Women's Tennis Coach of the Year" three times.
