Josh Whisman Named Assistant Men's Track and Field Coach

Carthage College Director of Athletics Robert Bonn has announced that Josh Whisman has been hired as an assistant men’s track and field coach. Whisman replaces Joe Busalacchi, who resigned at the end of the school year. Whisman served as an assistant coach at Wayne State College in 2009 after two years as a graduate assistant coach. He was named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division II North Central Region “Assistant Outdoor Coach of the Year” in 2008 after guiding Katie Wilson to a national championship in the women’s outdoor shot put. While coaching the Wildcats, Whisman guided three NCAA Division II All-Americans and 20 national qualifiers.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, he attended the University of Tennessee and lettered three times for the Volunteers in the hammer throw, the shot put and the weight throw and qualified for the 2005 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the hammer throw. Whisman graduated from Tennessee in 2006 with a degree in sports management and served as a student assistant coach his senior year. He received his master’s in organizational management from Wayne State in 2008.
