Carthage Women's Lacrosse Gives Back to the Kenosha Community

12/2/2009 9:40:46 AM

The philosophy of a liberal arts education is to create a well-rounded person through studies of different subjects, exposure to different situations, cultures and religions. As coaches. we try to help carry this philosophy through our program with community service projects.   Giving back to the community is an important message to deliver, especially to young adults who are in the process of shaping their lives.

Our players volunteer a minimum of three hours a month, and each project is created and implemented by a player within our program.    In October 2009, the team lead a bingo and ice cream night at the St. Catherine's Commons retirement-living community of in Kenosha, Wis. In November. the team spent an evening at the First Step Services homeless shelter, were they baked and decorated cookies for food baskets, which were donated out to needy families. The players also created a “gift” Christmas tree for the clients of First Step.
