The Carthage College women's swimming team (3-1 dual-meet record) finished fourth at the Friday-Saturday, Nov. 20-21 Wabash College “Patrick Woehnker Invitational” at the Class of 1950 Natatorium in Crawfordsville, Ind. DePauw University won the five-team event with 691 points, followed by Wheaton College (Ill.) second at 629, NCAA Division II the University of Indianapolis third at 605, Carthage fourth at 443.5 and the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology fifth with 153.5 points.
Carthage's Michelle Pelka (Jr., Elgin, Ill./Elgin Academy) won both the 200 individual medley (pool-record 2:11.989) and the 400 individual medley (NCAA B cut 4:38.76), while finishing second in the 200 butterfly (pool-record 2:09:91). Amanda Croix (Jr., Bradley, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) won both the 50 freestyle (meet-record 23.89) and the 100 freestyle (NCAA B cut 52.20), while finishing third in the 100 backstroke (1:01.66). Carthage is idle over Thanksgiving weekend and returns to action on Friday-Saturday, Dec. 4-5 by playing host to the TYR/CollegeSwimming.com Classic at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis. (9 a.m./5 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. /4 p.m. on Saturday).
